A Moment to Keep Forever: A Rainy Post-Wedding Shoot in Tokyo

One’s wedding day is a milestone not everyone gets to celebrate. When you have the privilege of calling a day your wedding day, most couples go all out. Aside from the gowns, flowers, and reception, one thing people do not skimp on is capturing the day itself. Of course, it is a day you would want to remember forever.

Dea and Stanley got married last February 25 in Azabu, Tokyo, and wanted to squeeze in a quick two-hour shoot after their reception.

They inquired about parks nearby, including Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park, a Japanese garden known for its varied topography, with hills, valleys, and ponds.

They were also considering Prince Shiba Park, located near Tokyo Tower and recognized as one of the oldest parks in Japan. Both parks are closely located to each other, making it easy for us to travel on the day itself.

During the planning process, the bride shared a visual mood board featuring mostly park scenes, close-up portraits, and cityscape shots that included Tokyo Tower.

She preferred cool tones and lower contrast, aiming for a relaxing vibe, and mentioned that she was not drawn to overly warm or high-contrast edits.

They also shared that they wanted to recreate a “first look” moment and possibly include shots of them crossing the street.

I took note of all their preferences and adjusted the photoshoot accordingly.

We met at the entrance of the park by Hibiya Station, and Dea even brought her own bouquet for the shoot. To preserve the feeling of the day, they stayed in their wedding attire throughout the session.

Despite the rain, we pushed through with the shoot, especially since they were already dressed and glammed up. We did not want the hair and makeup to go to waste.

We ended up shooting around Hibiya Park and Tokyo Tower, strolling through the park as we went. Even with the rain and passing crowds, the newlyweds were simply enjoying the moment. Luckily, we also came across some beautiful blossoms along the way.

Your preferences and satisfaction matter most during our shoots. At the end of the day, I want you to feel happy and confident about your experience.

Just like this session, we can tailor your shoot to reflect your style and vision. Let’s talk through every detail, from lighting and angles to poses and mood.
