If you're planning a proposal, elopement, pre-wedding, or couple photoshoot in Japan, you probably have a lot of questions. I’m Thierry — a photographer and filmmaker based in Japan for over 13 years. I’ve helped more than 100 couples from around the world bring their dream shoot to life in iconic places like Mt. Fuji, Tokyo, Kyoto, Hakone, and more.

Below is a complete guide to what it’s like working with me, so you can plan with peace of mind.

  • Professional photography (and videography for premium plans)

  • My transportation fee

  • Carefully edited pictures delivered in an online gallery

  • 1-year backup of all edited images

  • Optional same-day sneak peeks (3–4 images)

⏱️ How Long is the Shoot?

The shoot duration depends on the package:

  • Proposals and mini sessions: 1 hour

  • Pre-wedding or elopement sessions: Up to 4 hours

🎥 Do You Offer Both Photography and Videography?

Yes. My Premium Package includes both. Alternatively, you can opt for a static video add-on to capture the moment simply and cinematically.

  • Want to set up flowers or a picnic for your proposal? I can help or introduce a local decorator.

  • Need drone footage? I offer aerial shots where legally permitted.

  • Interested in kimono rentals? I can guide you to great local rental shops.

  • Want a specific editing style or re-edit? I’m happy to accommodate (additional fees may apply).

🔧 Do You Deliver RAW Files?

RAW files aren’t included by default, but they can be purchased if needed.

📸 How Many Photos Will I Receive?

I deliver only the best edited photos — carefully selected for emotion, light, and composition.

🎨 What’s Your Editing Style?

My style is filmlike, natural, cinematic, and timeless. I aim to tell your story with emotion and elegance.

📍 Planning & Logistics

Do You Help With Planning the Proposal or Shoot?
Yes. I help with locations, timing, setup, permits, logistics, and even surprise coordination.

Can You Suggest Locations?
Absolutely — Tokyo, Kyoto, Mt. Fuji, and hidden gems. I’ll recommend places based on your style and preferences during our call.

Do You Help With Permits?
Yes. I can handle any necessary location permits.

Can You Shoot Inconspicuously for a Surprise Proposal?
Definitely. I’ve done many surprise shoots — I can blend in, use long lenses, and coordinate signals with you.

How Do We Communicate?
After booking, we’ll coordinate on WhatsApp, and I’ll share live location on the shoot day. For planning, we can also jump on a Skype or Zoom call if needed.

Do You Provide Transportation?
Yes. I can drive you on the day or help arrange logistics from your hotel.

How Can We Get to Kawaguchiko From Tokyo?
You can:

  • Take a train + taxi (2–2.5h)

  • Use a highway bus (budget-friendly)

  • Or book private transport (I can assist)

How Early Should We Leave for Sunrise Shoots?
If we’re aiming for sunrise around 5:30 AM in Kawaguchiko, plan to leave Tokyo between 3:30–4:00 AM.

Anything We Should Prepare?
Bring water, comfortable shoes, optional outfit changes, and your good mood! I’ll handle the rest.

When Should We Book?
As early as possible — especially during cherry blossom or autumn season.

Is There a Contract?
Yes — a simple one, just to make sure we’re aligned.

What If It Rains?
If the weather is bad, we can reschedule based on availability or move to an indoor location.

Can We Cancel?
Yes, but note that the 50% deposit is non-refundable.
