Planning the Perfect Proposal Photoshoot in Shinjuku Gyoen, Tokyo

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is like three gardens in one: a modern Western-style garden, a traditional Japanese garden, and a landscaped beauty all rolled together. It’s the perfect spot in Tokyo to take a leisurely stroll, soak in nature, grab a bite (and maybe a souvenir or two), and in this case… pull off the surprise proposal of a lifetime.

The Secret Plan

Tom and I went full mission-mode for this shoot, carefully planning every tiny detail, even down to the timing. Since it was the couple’s last day in Tokyo, we decided to sneak them into the garden right when it opened at 9 a.m. That way, we’d avoid the crowds and catch the dreamy summer light shining over the lush greenery.

The Perfect Fit

Tom wasn’t just thinking about the ring. He had an eye for style, too! He made sure Shiori wore a sweet sundress that matched the romantic setting. The dress popped beautifully against the vibrant Japanese flora, tying the whole moment in a subtle but stunning way.

The Big Surprise

One of Tom’s biggest wishes was for me to capture the moment without Shiori noticing right away. With the right amount of sneaky planning, we pulled off an intimate and heartfelt proposal that felt private and genuine, exactly how Shiori had always wanted it.

Picture-Perfect Planning

Tom and I clicked right away, which made it easy for me to give him tips and recommendations to fit his vision. He went for a simple engagement photoshoot package, where we decided on one perfect location, the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Thanks to my experience and love for this craft, I knew exactly when and where to capture the magic, and the results were everything we hoped for.

Let’s Me Take Your Photos!

It’s the little things: the timing, the outfit, the location, that turn photos into once-in-a-lifetime memories. If you’re dreaming of your own proposal photoshoot in Japan, whether it’s a surprise or not, and want pictures that feel as magical as the moment itself, let’s make it happen.
