Tokyo Sunrise Engagement at Prince Shiba Park: Jessica and Alex’s Story
“I’m planning to propose in Tokyo this August. Are you available?”
That was the first message I received from Alex in the summer of last year. Simple and full of intention. From that moment on, we began planning what would become a beautiful early morning shoot near one of Tokyo’s most iconic backdrops — and the beginning of a story I’d be lucky to document beyond this day.
From Inquiry to Location Decision
After Alex reached out, we started narrowing down potential locations in Tokyo that offered a quiet, romantic feel with a memorable view. We talked through a few ideas, considering the balance between scenery and privacy and eventually settled on Prince Shiba Park.
Located right near Tokyo Tower, the park offers a wide, open space with just the right mix of greenery and skyline. We chose early morning for the best light and minimal crowds, making it perfect for an intimate, stress-free proposal.
The Shoot: A Peaceful Tokyo Morning
On the day of the shoot, I arrived early to check the area and make sure everything was ready. Jessica and Alex met me just after sunrise. The light was soft, the park was quiet, and Tokyo Tower stood tall behind them.
Alex proposed with Tokyo Tower as their backdrop, and Jessica’s reaction said it all. After the big moment, we spent some time walking around nearby, stopping at hidden paths, street corners, and a few classic angles that make this neighborhood so photogenic in the morning light.
What's Next: A Wedding in Japan
A few days later, Alex messaged: “We love the pictures. Thank you so much.”
Soon after, they asked if I could also photograph their wedding in Japan next year, something I’m truly excited about.
