A Cinematic Autumn Proposal for Alex and Selena

I have been working in this industry for years and have had the privilege of meeting many wonderful clients. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is when past clients refer me to their friends, because it means they were truly happy with their experience. This is exactly what happened recently with Nicole, a former client who recommended me to her friend Alex, who was planning to propose in Japan in late November.

Planning a Surprise Proposal from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo

Alex and Selena flew in from Kuala Lumpur for what Selena thought was a simple holiday. In reality, Alex had been quietly planning his proposal for months. We coordinated through phone calls and discussed the full details of the plan. He decided on a two-hour photoshoot covering one to two locations so we could make the most out of their time in Tokyo.

Selecting the Perfect Autumn Locations

After careful consideration, I recommended two spots. The first was Rikugien Garden, one of Tokyo’s most famous locations for autumn foliage. The highlight of Rikugien is its central lake with a small island, surrounded by vibrant maple trees that reach peak color in late November.

The second location, Yoyogi Park, is about a thirty-minute ride from Rikugien. It is a spacious city park where autumn arrives noticeably and beautifully, with tall trees and open spaces full of rich seasonal colors. Yoyogi’s foliage typically peaks from late November to early December, and our timing aligned perfectly.

Once Alex confirmed both locations, everything fell into place. He also received a ten percent discount on his chosen package as a referral benefit from Nicole.

Capturing a Cinematic Autumn Proposal

When the day arrived, I was positioned and ready to capture the moment exactly as Selena had always dreamed: cinematic and full of emotion. Alex proposed on a bridge, surrounded by warm autumn hues and still water reflecting the season’s colors. It was intimate, quiet, and beautifully sincere.

After the proposal, we continued the shoot and wandered around both locations. Since we had ample time, we experimented with different angles, lighting, and scenes so they could walk away with a complete and meaningful gallery. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the couple fully enjoyed the process, which naturally made their photos even better.
