Sometimes, the most beautiful stories begin with a simple message sliding into your Instagram DMs. That's precisely how Kisan's request found its way to me.
Kisan wanted to surprise his girlfriend Aish while she was visiting Japan with her family, so we quietly coordinated everything over WhatsApp in the weeks leading up to the big day. He even flew in ahead of time, and we carved out a little window to meet over coffee.

During our planning conversations, we carefully selected two stunning locations around Mt. Fuji to provide the perfect canvas for this life-changing moment. Nagasaki Park offered us sweeping views and intimate spaces, while Twnku no Tori provided a different energy and perspective.

On the morning of the proposal, I drove out to Mt. Fuji and picked Kisan up personally. Before the actual moment, we visited the proposal spot together so I could walk him through exactly how everything would unfold. That extra bit of planning helped ease his nerves and made sure everything would go smoothly.
I watched Kisan's nervous excitement build while Aish remained beautifully unaware of the surprise that was about to happen. The way the light played against Japan's most iconic mountain, and the anticipation in the air created a pure magic atmosphere.
The proposal itself was everything Kisan had dreamed of and more. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Mt. Fuji, this story was even more special. It wasn't just about two people in love, with family present to share in this precious moment, adding joy and cultural significance to an already meaningful occasion.

The following day brought us to Tokyo and the famous Suga Shrine – a location that holds special significance for anyone who's fallen in love with the anime film 君の名は (Kimi no Na wa) or "Your Name." The staircase leading to this shrine is where the main characters, Taki and Mitsuha, reunite in the movie, making it the perfect setting for Kisan and Aish to celebrate their real-life love story.
What I love about Suga Shrine is how it seamlessly blends traditional Japanese culture with modern romance. The stone steps, the traditional architecture, and the urban Tokyo backdrop created multiple opportunities for diverse and meaningful photographs. We didn't just stay at the shrine either; we wandered through the surrounding streets, capturing priceless candid moments.
