A Scenic Japan Proposal with Mount Fuji
Tokyo is Japan’s most famous and most visited city, often serving as the main tourist hub of the country. However, less than an hour away is Yokohama, the second-largest city in Japan.
It’s known as one of the first ports opened to foreign trade, and for its large Chinatown filled with restaurants and shops.
My client, Steven, who is half Japanese, visits his family here every year. But this time, the trip was different. He would be traveling with his girlfriend, Eva, with a special plan to propose.
Since it was her first time in Japan, he wanted to propose in a scenic location.
His initial idea was to do it under the purple wisteria at Ashikaga Flower Park, but I told him that the blooms might not be ready by mid-April.
As an alternative, I suggested a Mount Fuji location with cherry blossoms, which he liked as well. I then walked him through the proposal process.
I like to arrive about 30 minutes early to scout the area and send reference photos to help guide the client, especially with the nerves that come with proposing.
On the day itself, I asked him to send me a selfie and his live location via WhatsApp so I could keep track of where they were.
Since it was a surprise, we had to be mindful of timing and keep things discreet. But all of our careful planning was worth it.
We found a unique pathway lined with tall green trees, which turned out to be the perfect spot for him to pop the question.
It felt quiet and private, almost like they had the whole place to themselves.
After the proposal, we walked around and took more photos.
They shared how much they enjoyed the experience, and I also enjoyed the entire process, from planning to execution to delivering the final photos.
Every shoot is different, and I’m always grateful to be able to do this.
