Capturing Two Sides of Japan: Nature’s Calm and Tokyo’s Electric Romance
Tourists visit Tokyo for many reasons, but seeing Mount Fuji in person is always high on the list. The nearly symmetrical volcano has long been admired as a sacred mountain, celebrated by artists and travelers for centuries. As someone who’s been in Japan for nearly 10 years myself, Mount Fuji is a view that never gets old.
Choosing the Perfect Proposal Location
Tony reached out with one clear vision: he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Diana, in a natural, scenic location. Kawaguchiko instantly became the ideal choice. Located at least an hour and 30 minutes away from Tokyo, Kawaguchiko offers serene landscapes and stunning views of Mount Fuji from almost every angle.
During our discussions, Tony shared that he wanted a casual shoot with soft, natural light. To give their photos more variety, I suggested adding a cozy café shoot to complement the Mount Fuji backdrop. He loved the idea.
As with most shoots, we chose to start early, hoping to steal a little quiet before the world woke up. It was worth it. When Tony knelt down, Mount Fuji rose behind them in full, breathtaking view, as if blessing the moment. After the ‘yes,’ we wandered around the area, capturing soft, love-filled portraits wrapped in the morning light.
To complete their photoshoot experience, we also explored Tokyo in the evening. With glowing signs, reflections, and vibrant city energy, we were able to capture a striking contrast to their nature-centered photos. The couple now has a diverse set of images representing two very different sides of Japan.
As the day faded, Tokyo transformed into a sea of lights: warm, glittering, and impossibly romantic. We wandered through glowing streets and quiet corners, letting the neon reflections and soft city hum frame their photos. There’s something magical about Tokyo at night: even in the busiest places, love finds its own little world.
