A Proposal Timed with Japan’s Cherry Blossom Season

Japan’s cherry blossom season is one of the most popular times to visit. Sakura blooms from March to May, with soft pink and white tones that draw people from all over. Since the season is short, many plan their trips around it to make sure they don’t miss it.

Mrinali and Dhruv were planning a trip to Japan around March or April. Dhruv wanted to propose during the trip, but was still figuring out the best dates based on cherry blossom season.

It wasn’t surprising at all. If I were visiting Japan, I would want to see the cherry blossoms in person too. When I asked about his preferences, he shared that he wanted a private, uncrowded location with a natural backdrop.

Since the proposal would take place in a public space, we decided on an early morning start, around 7:00 to 7:30 to avoid crowds.

On the day itself, I arrived at least 30 minutes early to check the conditions and sent Dhruv the exact location along with reference photos for positioning. We found a spot with low hanging cherry blossoms, which worked perfectly for the proposal and photos.

Dhruv finally went down on one knee and proposed to Mrinali, with cherry blossoms surrounding them. It felt like they had the entire place to themselves, with nothing but soft pink blooms in the background. It made all the planning worth it.

The photos turned out beautifully, and they were very happy with the outcome. It was a special moment to capture, something they can keep forever even after the short cherry blossom season has passed.

If you are planning a proposal during cherry blossom season in Japan, I would be happy to help you plan it. From timing to location, we can create something that feels natural and personal.

Cherry blossom season is ongoing, so don’t miss the chance to catch it. You can check my blog for the latest forecast and updates.
