Photographer Disguised for the Perfect Surprise Proposal

Having worked in the industry for almost 10 years, I’ve seen my fair share of proposal stories. One thing is almost universal: most women notice their partners acting a little off leading up to the proposal.

Since Sevag was planning to surprise Garineh with a proposal during their trip to Tokyo, we wanted to make sure she wouldn’t suspect a thing.

Sevag booked a quick photography package at Shinjuku Gyoen, a large park in the heart of Tokyo. Its central location and affordable entry make it easy to access, while its peaceful gardens offer a calm escape from the city buzz.

To keep the surprise, I posed as a casual photographer that was looking for subjects and approached them as they entered the park. We started the photoshoot strolling through the gardens, capturing casual moments and laughter along the way. Sevag played it cool, making sure everything felt like just another fun day in Shinjuku Gyoen.

Mid-way through the shoot, Sevag stopped, got down on one knee, and proposed. The surprise and joy on Garineh’s face made it clear that the planning had paid off, turning an ordinary photoshoot into an unforgettable, magical memory.
