A Romantic Proposal in Kyoto’s Most Popular Cherry Blossom Spot

Spring is one of the most popular times to visit Japan. From late March to early May, the weather is mild, the atmosphere feels festive, and of course, cherry blossoms begin to bloom across the country.

Sameer and Victoria were visiting Japan in March 2026. I was flattered to hear that Victoria already knew about my work and had been following it for some time. She even encouraged Sameer to reach out to me and shared my profile with him while they were planning their trip.

Once Sameer contacted me and we confirmed availability, we immediately started discussing their preferences. I like to understand what my clients have in mind early on so I can align everything with their vision.

Victoria mentioned that she preferred a relatively secluded location with cherry blossoms. She also shared a previous proposal gallery I had shot at Maruyama Park, which helped guide the decision.

Maruyama Park is one of Kyoto’s most well-known cherry blossom spots. It’s especially known for its iconic weeping cherry tree, which becomes a centerpiece during the season and is even lit up at night.

What the couple liked most was its versatility, with different areas offering cherry blossoms, bridges, and nearby temple elements like torii.

On the day of the shoot, everything went as planned. We moved through the park, and eventually came to the moment they had been waiting for. At the end of the day, it was really about the two of them and the experience they shared together, and I was there to capture it as it happened.

Being trusted this way, especially by someone who has followed my work, is something I don’t take lightly. After the shoot, they shared how much they appreciated the experience and how happy they were with the photos.

I’ve been doing this for years, but moments like this never get old. It’s always a good feeling to see clients happy with both the experience and the results.
