Bringing a Romantic Picnic Proposal to Life at Lake Kawaguchiko

Finding the perfect setup for a proposal can be challenging. Choosing the location is one thing, whether it’s a beach, a garden, a rooftop, or the mountains. But planning the actual setup is another story. Some people prefer a serenade, others want flowers, a picnic, or something more intimate and personal.

When Justin reached out to me about planning a surprise proposal for his partner, Manavi, during their trip to Japan, he shared that he was struggling to find the right setup and location.

We explored several options with the idea of a sunset beach proposal in mind. I suggested places like Moriya Beach and Shirahama Beach. While he loved both locations, transportation became the main issue, especially since they wouldn’t be driving during their trip.

Since logistics were the biggest concern, I recommended Lake Kawaguchiko instead. It’s about two hours away from Tokyo and is easily accessible by bus or train. The area offers beautiful views of Mount Fuji, a beach near Nagasaki Park, and even the chance to catch cherry blossoms.

Once I mentioned that, Justin was fully on board with the idea.

After finalizing the plan, I recommended the two-hour standard package, which included a coordinated proposal, portraits, and a vegetarian-friendly picnic setup. This made things much easier for him, especially since they were traveling in a foreign country and wanted help throughout the process.

Everything came together beautifully. We prepared a picnic setup for them by the lake, complete with a glass of champagne to make the moment feel even more special. The whole proposal felt relaxed and intimate, and we were able to capture everything naturally as it unfolded.

Planning something like this can feel overwhelming, but with the right support, it becomes much easier.

If you’re planning a proposal in Japan and need help bringing everything together, feel free to send me a message. My team and I are here not just to help plan your day, but to capture it so you can fully enjoy the moment too.
