Capturing a Cherry Blossom Proposal at a Hidden Gem in Tokyo

When planning a trip to Japan, it is common to feel overwhelmed by the number of beautiful places to visit. Each city offers something different, and it can be difficult to choose, especially for first-time visitors who do not want to miss out.

Sebastian felt the same way while planning his proposal. With so many options to choose from, he found it hard to decide on the perfect location. One thing he was sure about, though, was that he wanted cherry blossoms in the background, since they were expected to be in bloom during their trip.

He was visiting Tokyo with his girlfriend and soon-to-be fiancée, Tania, from late March to early April, with a fairly flexible itinerary. Since they were traveling all the way from the United States, I helped him narrow down the options and choose a location that would mark such an important moment.

After careful consideration, we decided on Shinjuku Gyoen.

The timing worked out perfectly, as the cherry blossoms were in full bloom during their visit.

My associate Alejandra Acosta captured the proposal. They started early in the morning to make the most of the blossoms while avoiding the crowds, which aligned perfectly with Sebastian’s vision.

They also brought along a few cute Pokémon plushies, which added a fun and personal touch to the photos.

The results turned out beautifully. The couple was very grateful for the experience, and it was a special moment for all of us to be part of.
