What Happens When Things Don’t Go as Planned: Our Mount Fuji Photoshoot

Japan’s highest mountain, Mt. Fuji, is considered to be  one of the country’s most recognizable landmarks because of its nearly perfect shape. It is a sacred mountain that has been popular among tourists and locals for centuries. So for Calvin, it was only natural that he wanted to propose to Holly with Mt. Fuji as the backdrop.

To make this vision come to life, careful planning was essential. Mt. Fuji’s visibility depends on several factors such as the time of day, weather, and location. Since Calvin was still unsure where and how to propose, he reached out to me for help. With my experience and knowledge of the area, I was able to guide him through the planning process and suggest the best way to make it happen.

The couple stayed at the Fuji Speedway Hotel the night before the proposal and rented a car for easier transportation. Other ways to view Mount Fuji include taking a train or highway bus from Tokyo. Calvin decided that driving would be best so they wouldn’t have a hard time heading to Oishi Park early the next morning for the sunrise proposal.

On the morning of October 27, everything went according to plan, except for one thing: the weather. When we arrived at Oishi Park, the view was covered in fog, as autumn mornings can often be unpredictable. To make the most of the day, we decided to move around Fujikawaguchiko and headed to Kogamasao Memorial Park instead.

Kogamasao Memorial Park is famous for its walkable paths, open spaces, and beautiful landscapes. Its tranquil atmosphere offers visitors a chance to enjoy stunning views of Mount Fuji and the surrounding nature. Moving there  turned out to be the perfect choice, as the skies were clearer and we got a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji.

With Mt. Fuji standing tall in the background, Calvin popped the question to Holly. Everything was perfect, and he got exactly what he wanted. The proposal felt intimate and serene, surrounded by natural beauty all around.

After the proposal, we wandered around the area to take more photos, which the newly engaged couple really enjoyed. They shared how much they loved the final photos, saying they were “over the moon” with how everything turned out.

I was happy to receive their feedback and grateful to be able to serve my purpose through my craft. Moments like these remind me why I do what I do: to capture emotions that people can look back on for years to come. Every shoot teaches me something new and allows me to grow not just as a photographer, but also as a storyteller.

Years of hard work and experience have brought me here, and it’s always my pleasure to share my craft and expertise with people who need it. Whether it’s a proposal, engagement, or any meaningful chapter in your life, I’m here to help you preserve it beautifully.

If you’re looking to book a photographer based in Japan for your special moments, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
